Mario Ruiz
Mario Ruiz is an award-winning industrial designer based in Barcelona. He has collaborated with global companies such as Steelcase and Haworth and received Spain’s most prestigious design award in 2016. For Edsbyn, he has designed the modular Escape sofa.
Ruiz opened his studio in Barcelona in 1995 and has since worked internationally and across multiple disciplines within design. His work in industrial, graphic, and furniture design has earned numerous prestigious awards from institutions such as Red Dot Award, Good Design Award, and Wallpaper Design Awards. Projects for global manufacturers including Steelcase, Haworth, and Teknion have particularly highlighted the studio’s expertise in designing system and office furniture. In 2016, Mario Ruiz received Spain’s highest design honor, the Premio Nacional de Diseño, awarded by the Spanish government and King Felipe VI.
For Edsbyn, Mario Ruiz has created the modular Escape sofa, which can be configured in endless combinations.
