DEEPLY ROOTED. STILL IN MOTION.

Rooted in Hälsingland craftsmanship and looking ahead, we develop furniture and environments that evolve over time – often with a focus on the workplace. Since 1899, we have combined material sensitivity with forward thinking – from the spindle chairs of the Swedish home to flexible furniture systems for world-class offices and projects.

In 1899, craftsman Lars Fredrik Pettersson founded a carpentry workshop that produced furniture, doors, and windows for the growing community of Edsbyn. In 1928, his son Ivar Pettersson took over, marking the beginning of a new era.

From a small carpentry workshop in Hälsingland to a trusted partner for modern interiors, our story is defined by craftsmanship, adaptability, and long-term vision. We shape spaces with a sense of time and create furniture that stands the test of time. We know interiors must endure both use and attention. That is why we develop furniture that not only serves its purpose but enhances spaces, ideas, and complete environments.

Ivar Pettersson studied Henry Ford’s assembly line and was likely the first in Sweden to introduce professional processes, templates, fixtures, and workstations for industrialized furniture production.

HISTORY IN BRIEF

Since 1899, we have grown from a local carpentry workshop in Edsbyn into one of the Nordic region’s leading furniture manufacturers. As early as the 1930s, we drew inspiration from Ford and implemented industrial production methods. We produced wooden skis for the Swedish Armed Forces, and from the leftover material, the iconic Fanett chair emerged – a spindle-back sold in millions of copies. System thinking has been part of our mindset from the start and continues to shape how we design modular furniture solutions. Our roots run deep, but we are never afraid to think new.

In 1934, Edsbyn Ski Factory was incorporated – it had already been supplying skis to the Swedish Armed Forces since 1905. “You make our skis, can’t you also make our office furniture?” they asked.

That question became the spark that transformed Edsbyn into one of the Nordic region’s most respected names in furniture for public interiors. Many of the leading cross-country skiers of the time were also connected to Edsbyn, which continued to produce skis until 1984.

STRONG SCANDINAVIAN DESIGN COLLABORATIONS

The 2010s marked a new design era for Edsbyn. Several prominent Scandinavian designers, including Thomas Eriksson (TEA) and Jens Fager, developed strong product series together with the Edsbyn team. Neat, Everlong, Arc, and Feather are among the series that have been warmly received by our customers and continue to evolve through close collaboration.

From products to systems

Today we develop furniture designed to work within systems – flexible, combinable solutions that can grow, adapt, and evolve over time. For us, it is a natural evolution of what we have always done: creating beautiful, functional solutions that make everyday life easier. Now, more than ever, we focus on furniture that works together in modular, interconnected wholes. For architects, this means greater freedom to shape spaces with precision – using modules that can grow and evolve alongside changing needs.

Function, sustainability, and a strong sense of context

We believe in long-term relationships – with both people and form. Today, we collaborate with some of the most interesting designers in the Nordic region. Their expressions reflect our view of design: contemporary, functional, and rooted in a Nordic heritage. Our furniture is made to be used, adapted, and to live long lives – both visually and practically. Our collaborations are built on shared values, where function, sustainability, and a sense of context carry equal weight.

SUSTAINABILITY THAT SCALES

Sustainability is a mindset – a wish to do a little better every day. It’s reflected in every choice of material we make, every production method, and every act of care for people and place. We create furniture built to last, with low impact and room for the future.
